Are Fission skimmers any good and if not what skimmer does everyone recommend for an AP24?

EVERYTHING I've heard says it's a POS. I have an AP24 and am still looking for something I can use w/o modifying my hood. If you hear of anything let me know!

I had one of the Fisson Nano and it SUCKED so many micro bubbles throughout my tank and not matter what i did it wouldnt get rid of them i modded it and did lots of repositioning and it did nothing. I desided to get a Oceanic one and it works great for me its a air driven and i think thats the way to go for the smaller tanks

I'm trying the Oceanic now...installed it yesterday. I see bubbles but nothing coming into the cup. How high should the water level be?

handtlkr, How's it going with the skimmer? I'm also looking for a skimmer without having to modify the hood. If need be I will, but then again I haven't found someone who modified the hood to use a HOB skimmer.

The fission skimmer does good in a 10 gallon with only 1 fish.I wouldnt recommend it for a heavy stocked 24 gallon. The only thing it will do is blow bubbles.

Yeah- the Fission Skimmer isn't worth its weight in salt- can't be too harsh on it though- the little powerhead it comes with is powerful for such a little thing- great for mixing water.

I went to 2 LFS today and both said that the Fission Skimmer was not worth its own weight in anything. Yes, both places sell the Fission Skimmer, both did recommend the Oceanic BIO CUBE Protein Skimmer. One had it in stock, the other would have to order it. Anybody try one of them??? If so, how does it perform?
