For the Elos Natural Skimmer NS500 Protein Skimmer, can it be improved with a more powerful Eheim pump?

I am finding that the default Eheim pump is weak and it is not making a lot of bubbles. The bubbles only go down to about 3 inches and there is a lot of empty clear water at the latter (bottom) 2/3 of the water column.

check if the pump is clogged? Did you remove the foam part on the pump?

No, I did not remove the foam part on the pump? Is it better to remove it?

foam clogs, and becomes a nitrate factory

Its more of the clogging factory that actually affects the skimmer. So, yes remove it.

Is it o.k. to use the Eheim 1260 pump for the Elos Natural Skimmer NS500 Protein Skimmer ?

It's not needed as the pump that is on it can easily over power that skimmer!
