I was wondering what kind of skimmer would be best to use for a 50 gal tank. I would prefer a hang-on or non-sump type. The tank currently is a fish-only tank but I am looking at adding corals in the near future. Are the cheaper type skimmers (such as found on ebay) worth looking at or a waste of time and money? Thanks in advance

Most HOB's are a waste of money. Get a sump, and your options are endless :D

I would agree with JC on that. However, if it MUST be a HOT I would recommend yo go with a Bermuda Rogue Wave. They're one of the best out there with a somewhat reasonable price. Unless you'd like to spend twice as much for a Deltec.

for the price of a deltec HOB you can buy a sump, the return pump, all of the plumbing, and a decent in-sump skimmer and still be cheaper than the MCE600 :D
