I recently purchased what was sopposed to be a 58 gallon oceanic reef ready tank but it turns out the tank is 70 gallons. The difference is the 70 gallon is 25" high and the 58 is 21" high. I'm trying to decide if I should keep the 70 gallon or return it and have them order the 58. I'm thinking of going with a 20 or 30 gallon sump which brings my total volume to 90 to 100 gallons. Is this too much for the MCE600 to handle? I don't want to buy a new skimmer.

20 /30 slump will only be 1/2 full -- right? ;)
Besides, your really not talking alot of difference in the first place!
You should be FINE!

Lol thats what I was thinking and ya the sump will only be half full. I'm gonna take this tank and run with it!

you should be fine. I have one on a 90 gallon and it seems to be doing the job well.

I have my mce 600 with 10 gallons of water in the sump and it works fine as long as I don't overfeed and do a 10 gal. water change every two weeks. I feed a little bit four times a day.
