I bought some aquaconnects 14k 250w SE bulbs and the two bulbs are extremely different in color. One burns like a 14k should burn and the other one is completely yellowish white. i thought it was a defective bulb and exchanged it at store and got the same results. one side of my tank is a nice blue color and the other side is yellowish white. Why is there such a huge color discrepency btw the two bulbs? I know most bulbs need a burn in period but i doubt the two bulbs will look the same. I also did a search on these bulbs and it seems that many people are having the same problem. Any ideas?

I bought them from socal tropical fish.

How does it compare to 20,000k Radium? Are you running them with Galaxy ?

Thanks,
Loc

hey loc, yup, running them with the galaxy ballast. One side looks like a really nice blue and the other side looks like an xm10k. I think the xm10k is even more white than the aquaconnect. I tried switching the bulbs on different sides, but still get the same thing... I guess i'll wait to hear back. this is third bulb. i really hate taking it back to Tom because he's been really good about switching with me.

Hopefully Chris will get back to you, but there seems to be a problem with the latest shipment of AC 14K bulbs... So far it seems mainly the SE's, and a lot of problems with the 400Wer's. The problem is complete mis-color--way, way too yellow...

The guys at Premium Aquatics are well aware of it:

Even they can't seem to get an answer from Chris/Proline...?

Yeh, i saw that link as well Todd. I actually switched both bulbs out and have two new ones and they don't match still... I switched the bulbs to different sides thinking it might be the ballast, but the color follows the bulb.

I'm still waiting for an answer, but it doesn't seem like i'll be getting one anytime soon since its been a week.

Hey Yinger,

I must apologize for the lack of response to your problem. I've spoken with Tom over at Socal about the problem and we will best be able mediate your problem directly through the point of purchase.

Thanks for your patience,
