Should I really worry about dosing both in a 14g or would weekly water changes take care of it? I will be keeping Softies, LPSs and one clam. Will calcification be so high that I will have to dose to maintain recommended levels?

It is pre-mixed saltwater from the LFS. They use IO, haven't tested the Calcium and Alkalinity levels as I am waiting on the tests.

I'd check with what brand they are using. If you can, try to use reef crystals...I've had excellent results with that. I do however find I have to dose calcium as I have alot of calcium loving creatures...btw...this is in my 29

there have been some complaints about IO lately! low mg, calcium levels! imo i would test the mg, ca and alk levels of the premixed salt water and then add two part ca & alk to adjust that and then use kent tech - m to adjust mg! thats if you want to carry on using that salt! the best would be to change salt all together!

Calcification rates vary from tank to tank. All you can do is test regularly to see if your levels remain stable.

Test it and see if you need to dose. With a clam it is likely you will need to supplement calcium.

The ony way to see for sure is to test and see if the alkalinity or calcium are dropping week to week.

I'm just gonna go ahead and test/dose for it daily. I researched at what level calcium tests at in IO salt and it was at around 340, which is below the recommended level of 380-450. Couldn't find what ALK and MAG levels tests at but I am sure they are also low. Gonna go ahead and dose with E.S.V. B-Ionic 2-Part and Kent Marine Tech M.

Thanks
