GSP freshwater dip?

I just picked up a nice little GSP rock and I was wondering if I could do a lugols freshwater dip on them.

I'm not really sure. I'm always wary of freshwater dips on anything but zoas. However, I usually dip my corals with a saltwater/Lugol's solution, and that should be fine.

Whats Lugols solution, whats it do and why do you do it?
