I recently replaced my 100gpd membrane with a 75 gpd membrane as it was all I could find locally. I've been doing some recent reading about it and have found out that I should have changed my flow restrictor. Can anyone tell me what effects this could have on my water and filter.

Thanks

The restrictor provides the back pressure for the membrane to work.

They sell them at www.marinedepot.com and other places.

You're not really hurting anything, just not making as much good water as you could be...

You might be wasting water or loading up your membrane.

Ajustable restrictor are perferd due to variable pressures from house to house.
4:1 is the goal for most

www.buckeyefieldsupply.com sells an adjustable flow restrictor/flush kit combo for $16. These are the best, since you can adjust for pressure and temperature variations (even from summer to winter). As Roland said, you want to shoot for 4 waste to 1 good.

BTW, 75gpd membranes are generally better since they typically have a 98% rejection rate, versus 90% on a 100 gpd membrane.
