DIY overflow

Hey can anyone point me to some plans for a DIY overflow. I want to hook up a sump to my 29g tank but want to build sometime myself. Any help would be appreciated.

What type, (internal, external, HOB), what type of drain to go with it?

IMO it's always a better bet to drill and do an internal overflow if you can, but if you cant' then HOB is it :)
