Hi All,

I'm starting to think about getting a couple fish for my 20g high tank. It's been up for 3 months, so figure 4 closer to 5 after the quarenteen period.

I'd like to get a Yellow Watchman Goby, a Firefish and a Clown. Is three fish too many to quarenteen at one time?

Would I be flirtin' with disaster if I introduced 3 fish at one time to my DT?

Currently I have no fish or corals in the DT.

Thanks for your thoughts.

How big is your QT tank?

I asked the same question not too long ago (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1391288) and was told that it would be okay to QT a bunch of small fish together in a 30 Gallon QT.

While these are small fish, if I understand correctly you have no bioload at the moment? If so I would space out the acquisition process. If you quarantine more than one fish at a time in a separate tank, you are isolating them from the display tank but not from each other.

I currently don't have a QT tank. I was thinking of a 10g.

Steve's reply was exactly what I needed. Slow and steady, one fish at a time.

Thanks guys.

10g is a small tank, even for a QT. You might opt to spend a few extra bucks and buy a 20g. I think you could QT two small fish at a time and maybe the clown as well if it is small, provided you are vigilent about testing for ammonia and are ready to do massive water changes if you see a spike. Don't QT your fish in your main display--just asking for trouble in the event they come down with something.

I think you should get a 75 gallon and use the 20gal for a QT

I agree with Steve Add one at a time otherwise you could run into trouble.

One fish at a time, reduces stress and chance of fouling the water quickly.

Playa, I like the way you think.

whatever you do don't gamble with adding the directly to the display tank. Its best to start off keeping the display tank disease free.
