How to anchor cheato in a tank?

I tried to keep a smalll patch of cheato pinched under a rock but eventually it came undone.

cheato is suppose to roll in the refuge. Pinning it down will defeat the purpose.

It is not essential that Chaeto tumble as long as you periodically shake it/swish it to free it of detritus. Mine has remained stationary in my 30g fuge for a year and is doing fine.

I don't, but why do you say so? Chaeto doesn't go asexual like Caulerpa and some other macros. Honestly, it really doesn't matter whether your macro goes asexual in your display or your fuge--as long as it's a closed-loop system, your tank is in jeapardy.

its a macroaglae/mangrove fuge,
The purpose of the soap dishes is to keep the cheato in there and keep it from overtaking everything else--but it could work great in the display tank
this is my first in line fuge--with chaeto--as you can see it overtakes everything else

Hey Capn- can you tell my wife that our room with the washer and dryer is actually a fish room and not a laundry room. It would make it much easier to have space like yours.

sure have her email my wife---she is very happy that all the filtration stuff is in the basement and out of site upstairs :lol:

to inachu--sorry for the slight hijack but I was orginally showing you how to keep chaeto in the display tank ;)
it has ways of breaking off ect under a rock so it eventually comes apart and in the display tank alot of fish love to eat it

those soap dishes were a buck each--and the chaeto stays in them--when it comes out the top I harvest it:smokin:

We have differed on a few things now and then , but this doesnt change anything.....It seems you have controll of your system and this is number one. I would replace the clown with a manderine myself though.

I looked one more time and i didnt see the kitchen sink?

the next batch of live rock is curring in the kitchen sink:eek2:

the clown is to be replaced a dwarf lion fish or a small trigger

I said replaced not eaten;)
