Alconox brand detergent safe for cleaning aquarium equipment/tanks?

Well Folks,

I have any of you used Alconox to wash any reef equipment? It is supposed to be a research grade detergent that leaves little residue.

I ask because I have encountered a situation while mixing saltwater in a new aquarium using new pumps (different thread) and want to remove some nasty oily type stuff that has accumulated on the sides of my mixing container (a 20 gallon aquarium).

Thoughts?

I have no experience with Alconox. I would try white vinegar or muric acid first.

The detergent likely is fine, but I agree with trying vinegar or some simple ammonia first.
