does anyone know what i can do to my tank to turn the rock purple without useing purple up?

use kalkwasser and reef appropriate lighting

I don't think purple up does anything special, its main ingredient is inert.
Just keep your calcium and alkalinity at recommended levels. Seeding areas will also speed it up, take a toothbrush and scrub some areas that are already covered with coralline algae and then rub the toothbrush over the areas you want to seed.

Yup patience, and you need some of that purple (coralline algea) to seed it with. I wouldn't use the purple up.

you need a deltec calcium reactor, it turned my rock purple in just a few months. check the date stamps on the photos.

albfelix, I'm not saying you did it on purpose, but are your lights different in the april 08 pic?

nope same lights, i think i took one photo with macro on and one with not. you can even tell how the dead rock changed from Feb to March

Nice Tank! Can't wait to see the corals grow in- are those SPS? You should post some pics in the SPS forum. Its amazing how fast the coraline grew in. Could you give us some specs on your system?

well unfortunately I was forced to get out of the hoby. It was a 120 gallon tank.
