What can I feed my damsel guys? And would tropical fish food work in a real pinch if I had to use it?

u should be able to find all kinds of foods for your fish at the lfs. the most popular choice seems to be frozen foods that you should be able to find in a freezer at your lfs. there are also countless types of flakes, pellets and tablets that you can buy in containers.

i personally feed a rotation of frozen mysis, gut loaded brine shrimp and an angel fish mix with occasional pellets or flakes

Yes you could use tropical fish food in a pinch. Damsels will eat anything that they can fit in their mouth.
Frozen mysis would be better but damsels will live many years on flakes.
