Singing Fish?

I just got this fish from an old man whos trying to get rid of his tank. I don't know what kind of fish it is but every once in a while he will jump out of the tank, stand on the ledge with his 2 back fins and start singing and dancing. His has this little top hat and cane that he twirles around his fins while he sings ragtime songs. He also does it in the middle of the night which makes it impossible to sleep. Is this normal? I tested the water and everything seems to be fine. Has anyone heard of this before? Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I had the same type of fish! He was getting on my nerves so bad...I took him out and sent him to some poor sap in South Florida...
