Dimensions will be 48Lx20Wx18H, The thing I need to find out is the thickness of material to use. I want to keep this rimless, but will use a top plate if I have to. I'm going to use pendant lighting over the tank and really like the look of a rimless tank.

If I go with 3/4", can I keep it rimless?

Hmm, that tank is pretty big and I would be nervouse about going rimless. I think if you deffinately want rimless you should consider a glass tank, or oging with 1" acrylic.

Well, based on pricing, it looks like I might as well go with glass.

1/2" (not rimless) is $400
3/4"(not rimless) is $600

Those are both without overflows, but use euro style bracing for the top. :(

Yupp, you'll probably find glass to be an easier build than acrylic as well. I know I did. click my red house to check out how I built my glass tank. it's a 99 gallon cube, built out of 10 mm glass, but has top bracing.

I've worked with acrylic in the past, just not on such a large scale. I simply son't have to tools and time to take on building such a tank at home right now.

yea acryl is trick, get some 36" clamps, and make a frw 90 degree squares and you will be happenen for glass. glass tanks are pretty easy to make, i had no problem with my 99 gal.
