I got this frag over a year ago and its taking over. I've been scrubbing them with a wire brush but that seems to just inspire them to grow faster and thicker.

Why kill them? Frag them and sell them!

Just give the whole rock away if you don't like them. Trade for a clean rock.

Yeah, no need to kill propagated coral. Give it away and save the ocean from being raped.

I can't get them off the rock. They are deep rooted and don't want to come off.
I have about 6 other rocks built onto that one and it'd disturb the sandbed to pull it out.
Whats the best way to get them to come off rock?

Use pointed bone cutters which will allow you to cut through the rock without removing it. It may take some time though with that many polyps to remove. This way will also give you a bunch of frags ready to trade.

ill take some off your hands- let me know when you get them off the rock. Maybe a flat sharp knife and cut and the base of the zoos ( scraping them off?)

I'll make a trip up I35 and take them off for you. I have a nice place for them in my tank. ;)

Those are in the same mold as these.. just different colors.
Very invasive grower.. lot faster than some botton polyps..

My friend, I struggle with the understanding of why you would want to kill something so innocent because it is only doing what it is suppose to do in nature, grow. This particular Proto Paly as it appears to be, is a prolific growers onces it takes hold of any surface. It would be a great gesture for you to remove, frag, sale and recoup any money you have spent which will cover the cost of a new piece of live rock equal in size as well as enough money to purchase new frags. No attack from me is meant in any way my friend, I just wish the day would come when we can stop killing corals we don't want and find them a new home where they can continue to do what they do naturally. It appears that you have a sizeable chunk of rock that is easily fragable. That would be the best advice that I could offer.
