Do you need to have the pumps set in your tank to do this? or can you do it with the pumps "dry"( out of the tank)?

You can do it either way. The only component required to do the upgrade is the power supply and the controller itself. You do not even have to have the motor connected.

What happens when your pump is stuck in upgrade slave mode? Can you reset it as it will not pump at all.
Thanks

I am not sure exactly what the question is. We do the flash upgrades here in the service facility. Actually anyone can upgrade yours as long as they already have the Gen2 upgrade. If you want us to do the upgrade all we need sent to us is one controller.

I'm a little confused and leery of the instructions. do I have gen 1 or gen 2? , I upgraded through ice cap one of them and assuming this is set as the master already. I'm assuming I need to do the gen 1 instructions or do I have to do both instructions, one sending one recieving? thanks for the clarification I dont want to mess this up :)

I read this post and took my WWD (without pump) to That Fish Place to have the flash upgrade. The ONLY way we could get it to work was to have the pumps plugged in. I couldn't even make my WWD a slave until I plugged in a pump. Luckily they were willing to use their pumps (whiich had to be taken out of new boxes). My hats off to them.
This is something to think about if you are taking your WWD to a dealer for the upgrade.

What is the answer to the above? Either you need the pump, or you don't. Please don't let this hanging EcoTech! I need to have this done at TFP. What do I need to Take with me? I've got two Gen. ones.
Thanks,
Joe

If your going to drive any measurable distance, I'd take the pump along. You only need one. It's not much more of an effort even if you don't need it. But I swear on a stack of bibles, it just would not respond without a pump connected.
p.s. Ask for Mike when you get to TFP. He's the official pump programmer and we went through this just last week.

Thanks. I know to ask for Mike. I only live ten minutes away, but I'll take a pump, just in case.

so if I have the two drivers powered off side by side, then I hold the mode (and set button on the gen 1) buttons down on both of them and the power them both on simultaneously and hold for 10 seconds?

Downloaded the firmware and it appeared to work. Now the slave is blinking red white and I can't get it to change. The Master can be set to any of the other functions. Do you have to use the original Gen1 WWD instructions once again after the download to set master and slave?

Is this something i can do myself or do i need to take it somewhere to get this done.
You have to have someone's Gen 2 within two feet of your controller to transfer the new firmware.

Alex-
To solve a blinking red error perform the following:
Hold mode (pump blinks white)
Hold mode and set (pump blinks yellow/white)
Cycle power to the pump by unplugging and re-plugging it in.

I had the same problem with my old MP40w Gen1 when I tried to upgrade it using a new Gen2 driver. The old pump would remain in the "upgrade slave" mode and flash red/white after the upgrade process. I called Ecotech customer service and they told me it means the old pump did not complete the upgrade properly, and that I should run the upgrade process over again. I did this countless times but I still could not get the old pump to properly upgrade and/or stop blinking red/white.
I called Ecotech back and they asked me to send the driver to them for inspection/repair. I sent it to them yesterday (Friday) and they expect to have it back in my hands within a week.
I'll let you guys know how it goes,
Dustin
