Is it ok to use metal hose clamps on something that will be in sump or should I try to find some Nylon ones?

Depends. Would they be in contact with water? If the clamps are not submerged, touching water frequently or rust will not be a problem, then I think it is OK.

No they would be submerged I figured they would rust but was wondering if it would be that bad to the tank.

For aquariums I frequently use good quality nylon tie wraps, not the crummy cheap-o polycorbonate ones found at some hardware stores.
They work quite well.
