View Full Version : thornback cowfish...reeftank safe?

okay so I have really been wanting a cow fish....heard that they were a 50 50 fish...recomemded for fish only but there are people who have had them in a reef tank no problems...any body have them before? anyone have them in a reef setup? thanks for any input.

Cowfish can secrete Ostracitoxin if stressed by envionment, other fish, tank cleaning, etc. This deadly toxin has the potential to kill all your fish, including the cowfish itself. Do some more reading and then decide if you think it is worth the risk!

there have been almost no reports from the thornback, thats why im intrested in that one, i dont have fish that would scare or pick on it and most people who even have them die in there tank naturally dont have problems.........but most people that I know who have had them have them in a tank thats fish only or only some zoas I'm trying to find people who may have had them with more of a reef tank...thanks for the imput an watching out for me:)
