well enspired by the maxi mod (i have never done it yet to a maxi) i desided to try this on a little that i had laying around for like 5 years. to help me out with this i used another part from a nother power head that i got off ebay that was a 220v and didnt run right even with the converters i have tryed.
well on with the pics. this is the 220v pump that didnt work worth s***. never got spinning, just pounced(sun sun's vibration 600gph :()

now the little pump. a aqua pump 1.

just to prove to you how old this is. the tags are almost off it :( i wanted to see the watts on this, but i bet you its around 10 or so. i could realy use a kilawatt right about now!

i was going to try to use the prop and magnet from the sun sun cuz by my saprize it droped right in and the mag was the same size as the one in the little pump. the magnet from the sun sun was lots stronger the the old one (may be do to how old it was) the sun sun prop sat kinda nice i thought even though it was low but with the shroud i made for it it would have ben fine(thats next)

well off to the shroud.
since the pump is nice and small i was able to use a peice of 2"pvc cut to about 3/4" and weld on16 it to the cover that was on the pump after i cut most of it up and left the outer ring cuz thats where it cliped on to the little pump. so yes i can take off the shroud very easly. for a bridge to keep the the prop in i used a thinly cut 2" pvc again and made some groves in the shroud and weld oned it.

every thing worked great till i found out by testing it, the prop that was on it was the wrong way! :( that sucked! so i went out and checked if i had any let in the shop and yep. good news was it was the way i needed too. it is a dumas prop that is about 1" or so. i can update on that later.
so i tryed the dumas on the origanal magnet and with the prop and i think that the magnet was just WAY to week to turn anything! so i did some slicing and dicing to the other shaft to take off the prop and jerry rig something up to hold the dumas. this is what i came up with.

now in the pump

i had to do a little rework on the bridge but its all good
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s193/customcolor/2.jpg

here is another kicker for ya.
the orig. output for this little pump fit almost perfectly into a 1/2" loc line! after i pushed it in i just heated it up alittle and spreaded it out so it will not come out! now i can move it in to any location to the limits of the loc line :D

now all togeather:)

i dont know about you all but im thinking its doing about 1000gph at least. and with the short 2" shroud the flow is like super wide!!!!
cuz the magnet is very stong i think this thing will turn a 1.25" prop! i guess i will have to give it a try some day :)

PS feel free to release a line of homemade Little Power Head Mod (Big Flows) that cost less than Tunze streams. Just sayin'.

Is that grinding sound in the video the pump? Great build; very compact.

Can anything get sucked in from behind and chopped up?

that grinding sound is now fixed. i didnt have enough suport for the prop and it was off ballence alittle and was tapping the bridge when i did this vid. its be fixed and between the nano stream and this mod i dont know which is quieter :)
