Today I started installing portable GFCI's on my tanks. I noticed that on my 90 gal FO, the 3 month old 3 ft CF light that sits on top of my glass cover was tripping the GFCI. I inspected it and all seems well. Since there is no way it could fall into the water, is it OK to have it on a non-GFCI protected circuit or should I bite the bullet and replace this relatively new light? I got the light on eBay so I can't return it

Have you tried replacing the GFCI? I'm not an electrician... or even that great at the hands on thing for that matter, but that's what I would do first.

I used the GFCI on a different tank and it's working perfectly. After testing all the equipment in the tank, I am sure the GFCI is working correctly and it's the CF tripping it. The CF has 2 bulbs and lunar lights. The lunar light does not trip it, only the 2 true CF bulbs.

I just tested my other 2 similar CF's, and they do not trip the GFCI.
