Ok so I'm running 3 250watt MH 14000K bulbs right now over my clam tank.

I'm thinking either going 2 14k with 10k in the middle or 2 14ks with a 20k in the middle.

What do you guys think?

I'm trying to avoid having to use any supplemental lighting from t5s, VHOs, and etc.

it would make it a lot easier to help you if you posted some pics of your 19 clams :)

i guess the easiest answer is...... what do you want to change it to??? with 3 14K is it to blue or not bright enough, then go from there.

a4twenty - I'm thinking about changing lighting because its almost that time to change the bulbs. I was just thinking some other color combinations to give the clams enough good light to make them grow, make their colors pop out and make my tank look nice. The 14k's I have I received for free but my tank is ultra blue with them. I'd like to stay away from vho's, t5's, etc. and just still with MH's.

Haha I'll try to get a picture of the clams soon.
I tired taking pics a couple of times but my digi-cam sucks and with the lights everything looks way to blue. I tried turning the lights off and taking pictures but the pictures look to dark.

if you think its to blue know, try your idea of a 10K in the middle ( great PAR and full spectrum light but a little to yellow / green on their own for most ) and two 14K on the outside.

IMO & experince I do not like to mix bulbs because it really throws off the look especially with 10K & 14K. Maybe you should just try other 14 or 13 K bulbs. I like the 14K phoenix myself. However I am only running T5 over my clam tank.

I wish they had a page where we could see colors of light bulbs when they are powered up. Would make it so much easier to choose.
