Some kind of sponge. I don't know the name, but I have a lot in my sump. Been there for over a year.
Wetweb media might be good for an actual I.D.

Calfo and Fenners's book on inverts refers to it as a Leucetta species.
Google search produced the I.D. tethya wilhelma or spiky ball sponge! Funny huh?
Either way it filter feeds large amounts of water. May indicate high nutriant levels. I think they are cool to have.
