how does distilled water from the store (gallon jugs) compare to ro/di? Can distilled carry contaminates?

it's definitely the best bottled water you can use, but it's pricey.. It's a subject of some debate even among people in the chemistry/water purification fields who visit this site, but distilled water is at least on par with, if not superior to RO/DI.

The greatest source of Phosphate is probably food you add to the tank. A phosban reactor and GFO media does a great job of taking care of that problem.
