I was reading that Ultra-Bak is suitable for aquaria with of without Zeolite filtration. How would I go about dosing this in a 75 gallon tank to bring down nutrient levels? Would you use Ulta-Bak in place of GFO media? Thanks for any help?

In a 75g tank, you would be dosing 1.5ml daily. During these dosages continue using GFO media until phosphate register very low. UltraBak will control phosphates that are not too high.

Did you notice your skimmer working better after dosing UltraBak?

My skimmate became slightly darker, but I don't know if that's related to the UltraBak or not. If your looking for something that will seriously increase skimmate production, look into the UltraLife, excellent product.

UltraLife is a powder that binds nutrients into particles large enough to be removed by the skimmer.

You can find it on Darkl ordcoral.com under Fauna Marin and Water Conditioners.

The product will temporarily make the tank cloudy so it is best to dose when the lights are off. Within 24 hours of dosing, I noticed chunks of skimmate build up all around the neck and in the cup.

How often do you use it?

I prefer to dose it every other day. The dosage amounts are difficult to understand, but I've done dosages with half the container and nothing bad had happened, just more clear water and more skimmate.

FYI, you can find the UltraLife product also from Todd at Cherry Corals. He will be getting in a Fauna Marin order soon.

I just received UltraBak, UltraBio, and UltraLife but I am unsure if I should use them. Yesterday I found out that my calcium reactor was adjusted wrong. I made an adjustment to it several months ago without checking to make sure it was the correct adjustment. My ph was to high to dissolve the media. Now that I have it back to normal, if I start the Fauna Marin products I won't know if it was my calcium reactor or the new products that make a positive change in the tank. What do you think?

IMO, the calcium reactor only attributes to constant growth with some color. The Fauna Marin products will aid in bringing out better polyp extension and color.

I have good color and great polyp extension, but some of my corals are washed out/light. That's why I was wanting to try out the Fauna Marin products. I also raised my lights up last week and I am seeing better color since I did that. I don't want to change to much to soon and not know what is making a positive change in the tank. I would like to get back to what I had before and then some.
Here is my tank now.

This is what it was before it crashed.

The FM products you have now is mainly for nutrient reduction. To recover the lightened or faded acros, I would try out UltraMinS and/or UltraAmin to darken the colors a bit and make them more rich.

A combination of what you have now plus MinS and/or Amin should aid in making most if not all acros more rich in color.

So, how much should I dose?

Since we have the same size tank, I'll tell you what I dose for those products:

UltraLife- 2 Tablespoons in a wide mouth bottle such as a 20 fl oz. Gatorade bottle filled with RO water. Dose 200ml in the tank every 3-4 days. Since a 20 fl oz bottle contains approximately 600ml, you can go by eye and pour 1/3 of the bottle. This is what I've been doing for a while now. :)

You'll notice that not all of the powder will dissolve, this does not pose a problem to anything.

UltraBio- 2 drops daily for the first month, then 4 drops thereafter.

UltraBak- 1ml daily for first month, then 2ml after that month.

What can you use as a food source for the UltraBio bacteria if you want to try dosing it without the zeolite rocks?

Food for the UltraBio would be "UltraBio Food"

Do you use the UltraBio food?

No, I haven't tried out that product. This is something I may look into trying out to see what it does to the tank.

Ultra Bio food is for the use with the bakteria Solution
Ultra Bio to reduce the nutrition without the Ultralith System

It can be use also in smaller tanks

Do I need the Ultra Bio food to run with UltraBak, UltraBio, and UltraLife?
