Is it normal to get bubbles in the sand bed? The tank is about two months old, and the sand bed goes anywhere between hardly anything to about 3inches. The bubbles are small, in the deeper part of the sand bed.
Thanks
Matteo

those are nitrogen gas bubbles. it means your sand bed is working.

Thanks Sam. Are there always going to be nitrogen bubbles present in the sand bed, or will they go away as the tank matures?

As time goes by you'll continue to see bubbles. The sand bed will also tend to turn colors as algae & various bacteria get established. A yucky sand bed is a healthy sand bed.

as stated you will almost always see them, they are converting nitrates to nitrogen gas and removing nitrate from your system. it is actually a good thing.
