I just recieved 2 of theses, what a waste of space and money, besides costing twice as much as my cheaper pengiun and taking up just as much space, the flow is pretty much nonexistent, my fish create more flow by swimming ...

If their in the 90 then a couple of 3's or 4's would blow your socks off. A #1 might be ok for a 20 gal QT.

dont know about the one but i put one of the 4'2 on my 75 at the fron left upper portion of the glass pointing slightly downward to the middle of the back glass and it sends a wave around the tank quite nicely :)

The flow pattern is just wide. This making them more of a connivence for reef tanks. Same goes for Tunze pumps.

I put one in my 15 g tank, you can't tell anything is moving, I can't imagine what you would put the 'nano' sized pump in, maybe a 3 gallon

The Flow is just wide. This chart helps explain why you "feel" less flow.

I have a K1 in my 30g and it does a very nice job of creating turbulent flow. The great thing about Ks is that they have a dispersed flow--you really can't feel the flow if you were to stick your hand in front of it, but believe me it moves water.

That sucks when you buy something and get it and it is not what you expected.

I agree thought that for a 90 gal they will not do much, also... they do not put out a stream that is narrow so it is hard to feel or see them working. I have 2 #4s on my 90 and the water is always moving all over the place.

Anyway... let us know what you do and what works for you.

I don't get why everyone says 1's are bad. I have 4 1's in my 90 gallon, with a seio. And I love them. I think the flow is perfect, its just that they are wide flows and not streams

They are hard to tell about the flow -- let others have mentioned, it is a wide flow.

A good way to see the flow is too let some air get into it --- see how far the bubbles flow. Or if you dose 2 part, pour the Alk part right above the powerhead and see how far the cloud goes.

parkpark

they are actually for 2 smaller tanks, one is in my 15 gallon, I think it is a good idea to have a wider flow in smaller tanks, but the surface water isn't even rippling (rippleing?) regardless, I will prob just keep them and use them anyways

I dont know, my roommate has a Koralia 3 and it seems like it moves a ton of water. The K1 in my tank feels as though it does nothing.

The K3 is rated at 850GPH, the K1 is rated at around 400-420. The K3 feels, to me, as though it puts out at least 3x the flow as the K1's

the flow should be as follows
#1 400 gph
#2 600 gph
#3 800 gph
#4 1200 gph

Perhaps there is a defect in the one you have

Easiest way to tell is put a maxijet1200 beside the number one
The maxijet is 290 gph You should feel the difference

there is much more information for you on this thread

1100 to 2200 gph for your tank
two k3 would be 1600gph so that flow would be great

providing you don't have any mushroom corals that you can't get out of that flow--they don't like it much

+2 on that

I have a K-nano in my office BioCube & it didn't seem to do anything...I was wrong.

I put a air stone in front of it....Holy Crap....Bubbles every where. SO even if it doesn't seem to me working....It is

However on a 90 gal....K-1 ???.....Go to a K3 or K4

Angle it up toward the surface along the back wall from the corner of the tank.

If you want some massive flow, trust me on this, add the ecotech mod to a maxijet 1200. Literally churned the water in my 125 gallon(6 feet). It was the best 9.99 I had ever spent. Literally one of these will blow you away.

they are impressive I think you mod 290gph to 2200 gph.
Caution if you do that buy the magnet kit for the maxi at the same time. It is just like the Koralia. I have read horror stories on here where the suction cups have failed and the moded pump is draining the display tank at the rate of 2200 gph:eek2:

I do believe that 100% as I turned it off when I left the house where the tank was because there is a lot of force and a suction cup did fail. I could just see the sand storm about to happen. They also make a bracket for it but it is ugly.

I have 2 Koralia Nano pumps in my 24g Aquapod and they move a lot of water in a very wide stream. I put one on each side of the aquarium facing each other and my Xenias whip around at random in the turbulent current like crazy. I actually had to offset the pumps somewhat because the current was starting to rip the xenia off the rocks.

The Koralia flow feels soft on your hand when compared to a regular powerhead, but they move lots of water at a very reasonable price. I'm very pleased with mine so far. Only time will tell if they are durable.

Moding a K4

"Give you an idea if you have an sps tank or like tons of flow. Purchase a regular Koralia #4 and also purchase the algae free maxijet upgrade. Once you get them, look in the maxijet upgrade kit and you will see a magnet, and 2 impellers. Grab the large white impeller and pop it out, turn it upside down and place back into the shaft. This is done to reverse the way the impeller will flow since the Koralia magnets and the maxijet kits upgrades are made to rotate in opposite directions...reversing the impeller assures the pump will start rotating in the right direction. The impeller is set by pressure just make sure you push it all the way in. After this little reversal is done, simply replace the stock koralia impeller...keep the koralia metal shaft! and insert the maxijet kit magnet along with the white impeller you just reversed. Replace the koralia cover and submerge in water at least 3 inches. You will be insane at the amount of flow this produces, I would say around 2000+ gph...I did this with 2 koralia 4's and they have been running for 2 months and stop and start with no problem...just do not use on a timer or wavemaker...absolutely no tools necessary, the impeller pops out with prssure from your fingers, just be careful not to brake any of the blades.
This produces equal flow of TUNZE pumps and even vortec at a fraction of the cost...HOWEVER, MAKE SURE YOU USE THE ALGAE FREE maxijet upgrade. Good Luck

I just put (2) Koralia 3's and (2) Koralia 4's in my 150. Best purchased I've made so far. I love the flow and the wide range that they hit. I don't know why someone would put a Koralia 1 in a 90? This product is the real deal as far as I'm concerned.:eek1:

I find the ones useful for having low in the tank and getting a nice gentle flow across the substrate.
Also in a mixed tank of sps and lps it is sometimes good to create zones of flow and this helps with that also;)
