from all Ive heard, they are less efficient than other forms of lighting in the form they use. less overall light as well.

the cost speaks for itself...

I have the Solaris I-4 48" as my lighting system but it's new so I can't say about the effect on corals.
However, I don't agree with those that critise the system just from what they read or heard.
So far I am very satisfied with my system and I have to say that I don't use a chiller so the high starting cost will be cheap at last.

I have had the Aqua Illumination LED lights on my system since January and am very happy with my decision. Zero heat, controllable lighting and they look great IMO which since it sits in my living room is the only opinion I care about (JK). The corals all seem to be doing well. They are growing at a faster rate than when I had PC's. I keep mainly lps and softies.
