Hi, I have one of these Ca reactors and am finally about to set it up after about 6 months of sitting around. I am putting it on a 50g prop style tank to get the hang of it, because this will be my first time using a calcium reactor. I read through the extensive thread about them, but still have a lingering question of what to use as a feed pump on it. It seems the general consensus is a peristaltic pump. Id prefer to not get such a costly pump if I can use something else effectively. I have a milwaukee ph monitor that I plan on using, I don't know if that affects the pump recommendations or not. Can anyone make suggestions about specific pump models that would work best.

would an aquamedic sp3000 work for a small tank?

I am using an AquaLifter pulling thru the reactor and it works OK. This is a really cheap solution if cost is an issue.

I feed my right off of the schuran protein skimmer. They have a real convenient feature that is right off the skimmer pump.

Hey Herbie, I am going to try it with the aqualifter, its definitely worth a shot for the minimal cost and I can always add the peristaltic if needed. Would you mind my pming you with any questions?
