My buddy has a fish room with some humidity issues in Florida.

So this is what I was thinking. Adding in the ceiling a bathroom exhaust fan with a humidity control. Will this work? Where is it suggested to exhaust the air from the fish room; up into the attic or pipe it to the outside through a duct?

Here are the products I am considering.

Fans

Controller

Any and all suggestions welcomed.

Thanks, Chris H.

Either fan will work with that humidistat. That's exactly what I used. I would vent it outside, you don't really want the extra humidity in the attic.

So you don't think that the humidity would be evaporated in the hot FL attics? What CFM you buy and for what sized room? Also, what you would you suggest for a 12x12 room?

PS thanks for the reply.

evaporated? humidity is already evaporated water.

is a dehumidifier not an option?

Im considering the same obstacles, but I dont want to be pumping my A/C outside all day... dehumidifier seems a better idea... or an AC unit to do the job if heat is an issue too.

It is but it would add a ton of heat to the room.

I run the exact setup in my fishroom. two standard bathroom vans on a controller. I have a dehumidifier, but I hardly need to use it.

Ac is another option, but you will use a lot more electricity

Ranco makes a humidty switch also. Try a Panasonic vans or a Hydrofontics store. Can vans they come in 4'' 6'' 8'' and they are controllable. Do not vent them in the attic but outside

I would use duct work to make a hood over the tank lighting and over the sump. Use dryer duct to a blower fan that shoots outside the house and attach to a humidistat. This will help prevent too much cool A/C air from getting thrown out and will allow optimum humidity grabbing. As said before DO NOT VENT to the attic. This will cause all kinds of mold, including toxic black mold. I recommend directly venting outside the house.

Sounds good guys. Thanks.

The last question is how many CFMs should I go for if the room is a 12x12?

He will have a 110 tank, 100 gallon Rubbermaid sump and a 40 gallon fuge in the room. Will a fan around 110 CFM work or should I shoot for him getting some around the 200-300 CFM range?
