What causes STN?

What are the causes of slow tissue necrosis? One of my frags recently died from this. I only had it in my tank for 1 week, it was a fresh cut from my lfs. Skin tissue was literally peeling away slowly :( . What can I do to prevent this from happening???




Also is it normal for frags to die at the base after being glued to live rock rubble? Im assuming it is since the rest of the frag looks healthy.

i cant really say anything about stn but i do know that when gluing frags,... whatever tissue of the frag the glue covers, it will be dead
it will grow back quickly under the right conditions though
