I have seen so many picture of these guys and love them.

Here's my question. I'm currently in the process of getting a new tank that will house my Gold Sriped Maroon Clownfish pair. It will be a 28g JBJ HQI...

The GSM pair are the only fish that will start out in the tank.

Could I possibly put a jawfish in with that pair in the future?

If so - what are the sandbed & rock requirements for these fish? If there's a possiblity that I may add a jawfish in the future - I want to make sure that I plan my tank accordingly.

What do you think?

imo i would say no, maroons are very aggressive and a 28g tank isnt very big to begin with. the smaller the tank the more aggressive the maroons are likely to become

To be honest a 24g is too small for a pair of GSM. The females get very big and are aggressive. You would be ok with Occelaris, percs or skunks but not GSM's. Even if they settle in such a small tank (which is unlikely) I doubt the female will tolerate any other fish in there.

You will need at least a 3 inch sand bed with lots of rubble so they can make a burrow. BLUE SPOTS RULE!

and they jump - must be completely covered.

I would say closer to 5 inch sandbed MIN. & lots of rubble for it to build with.

they also need colder water temperatures (75) for longevity

I have my blue spot in a 29 gal. Biocube with a pair of Picasso clowns as his tank mates. I've had him for 6 months now and he's doing great! I have a deep sand bed with a lot of LR rubble, he loves it, the more the better. I also have the tank covered, because as stated earlier they do and will jump! Here's a pic of him. I've named him Digger, for obvious reasons!

I have had three of these great fish in my 150g. You have to, without a doubt have a lid on yoour reef tank!!!! I have lost two of them to jumping out of the tank!!!! So if you have SPS tank then plan for this!!! Good luck he is one of my best fish!

I vote no with the gsm. My gsm tried to feed my bluespot to his anemone and I had them in a 150 gallon.

I use a half of a four inch clam shell turned upside down and that is where my blue spot jaw calls home. Constantly bringing out mouthfuls of sand that tumble in.
ditto on the jumping. I am on my second one.
Absolute gorgeous fish.
