A water change won't do anything to stop the ich ,if you mix a little garlic juice with it may stimulate their appetite and their immune system will conquer it themselves . That is what worked for me . Also find another LFS

With ignorant people adding livestock to your tank you are headed for a crash, sorry to hear this!

Buy some Selcon and soak the food in this stuff. It has garlic which they love so they should eat better and their immune system should fight it off.

I've had ich breakouts twice and used Selcon and within a few days, all the fish were fine.

If you want to try and treat ich - use any of the anecdotal methods including those mentioned above - If you want to cure it you will need to treat the fish with copper OR hyposalinity. Both cure methods have serious implications depending of if you are treating in a hospital tank or trying to cure your display tank. To keep a tank ich/parasite free, all fish must be QT'd prior to entering your display tank. You may want to do some searching in the Fish Disease forum here on RC for further ideas. Good luck

If there's no inverts or LR you could try lowing the SG to 1.009 over a few days and keep it there. But I'm afraid these fish are doomed as well as any others added to the tank if things don't change.

How much garlic do you add and from what form...
My angle fish only picks at the rocks and will not eat anything else.

is that true??

only if there are fish in it. Ich requires a fish host or it will die out in 6-8 weeks

hyposalinity and copper are the way to go. Since your tank is not too large and not fully established, I would get the fish out and treat them the right way. It will save you trouble in the future.

It will save you trouble in the future. :) That's correct. Set up a quarantine tank and treat them with either copper or hyposalinity and leave your main tank fishless for at leat 6 weeks. you can also give them a fresh water dip or formalin bath befoe putting them in quarantine. I prefer copper over hyposalinity but others prefer hypo. Garlic, uv sterilizers ,cleaner shrimp, etc. will not cure or treat ich. If you'd like to learn more search under crytocaryon irritans( that is the scientifice name for marine ich). Once you understand the parasite you eill know how to treat it more effectively.

Good Luck and please don't call your parents nasty names especially in public.

You should break up some Centrum Silver and Viagra, mix them together and soaked the mixture in Robutussin. Then, catch your fish and rub the paste all over the ich. That worked for me.

Dude . . garlic, water changes, chicken blood, pepper sauce . . . it's all snake oil. The ONLY thing that's going to cure your fish is to get them out of the display tank and into a hospital tank, medicate with copper (monitor water parameters carefully) or do daily formalin dips (your fish are too far gone for hyposalinity), and let your display go fishless for 6 weeks. Period. You need to act now. Treating your tank is the most ridiculous, retarded thing that a LFS could tell you to do. There is no "reef safe" medication. The medication that will work will fry all of your live rock (forever), your bio-filter, your inverts, everything.

While your tank is going fallow, get some good books and read. Tell your parents to keep their f-ing hands out of your tank.
