View Full Version : Painting with Kilz

I'm building my own aquarium stand and I'm wondering if there's any reasons not to go ahead and paint the individual pieces of wood with Kilz before assembly? Would it interfere with the assembly in any way (ie. glueing, screwing, nailing, etc.)? Obviously, the sides of the skin that would be seeing stain would not get any Kilz.

The reason I ask is, this way I can paint out in the garage and assemble at the site the aquarium will be. No paint fumes in the house that way, and I don't want to try and construct in the garage due to the badly uneven floor in there (plus the stand will be heavy!).

Thanks.

definitely no kilz or paint over areas that will be glued

I built mine indoors then took it out to the garage for staining/sealing, Kilz is not real great for moisture, i used Helmsman poly inside and out on my hood and stand, it is indoor/outdoor grade and holds up well.;)
