I wasn't to sure, but I am fairly certain he is a nuisance. It has been a while so my knowledge is a bit rusty. Currently holding him in a pitcher with a bit of water.

Asterina star. Some think they are a nuisance, others welcome them.

Nice pics, btw.

I just read that they are opportunity eaters... I think I will dispose of him.

Is there any place you can buy these? I'm looking for an alternative food for my harlequins, since buying $10 chocolate chip stars every week is so annoying. and thought these would be better. I haven't found any in my tank, does any place sell them?

Do these breed? It would be great to have a bunch of these breeding to feed my harlequin.

Asterinas are harmess. There is a similar species, but appear very sporadically in tanks. If the star eats corals, you'll know. That's when you can remove it. Otherwise, let it be.

I know they reproduce like rabbits. I notice them after my lights have been off for a couple of hours. My lfs told me that they eat corraline, so I give them to a friend who has harlequin shrimp.

Yes, I had several of these stars in my old tank and they eat all my corraline alge! I would send it to the lfs.
