i had a tomato clown hosting in a frogspawn which is a nice size and healthy. i added a torch coral and it switched to that one. the torch was smaller. it was about 2 or 3in across. the torch slowly died from the relationship but when it started to show signs i moved it but it was too late. i thought the clowns could host in the corals just not goniopora and elegance corals?

Same applies for anemones actually, you get a small anemone and a large clown it is common to see the anemone get "worn out"

Yes, that is one of the downsides to clown fish and corals. If they associate, they may damage or kill the coral. I have also seen this with anemones.

Yeah, most people don't think about that with clownfish. I have a mated pair that I had to move out of one of my display tanks.
