We have had some serious heat this year even for El Paso so I have decided to bite the bullet and get a chiller.

The tank is a total of around 1200- 1300 gallons total volume with 550 in the display and another 500 in an underground cistern that circulates with the main tank.

The tank runs 76 to 78 most months but lately it is going up and now at 81 to 82 and the sps seem to be reacting negatively.

Anyway, I am thinking a 1hp chiller will do the trick.

I would like to use 220V but I am not sure yet if that will be do-able. I already have a circuit but it is being used and I will have to figure out how to wire it.

Anyway Brand suggestions and vendors would be much appreciated.

Tradewind makes a great chiller. You could get a 1hp which is good for about 1000G. It wont be 220, but 115 you would need a 20amp becuase i think its pulling about 16 amps.

If you go to 1.5Hp its good for 1500 gallons and it would be 220v only 9.5amps.

I would go with the 1.5hp one :)

on the 1hp one,on a 220v it's only pull 4 amp when it's running but it's can pull up to 8 amp at it peak.i just had mine hook up last week.for your size i would recommend 1 1/2HP one
