Smelly topoff water

I put a few scoops of kalkwasser into my top off water once a week. I noticed that my reservoir now has a bit of a stench every time I open it for filling. Smells a little bit like dirty socks...

Is this normal, or should I dump all the water/clean out my reservoir?

Smells coming from stored RO/DI water is pretty much the norm. There is no chlorine in the water, so bacteria tend to grow quite easily (producing the odor). If you're planning on storing RO/DI water long term (more than a month) I would suggest adding a couple capfuls of bleach to it and then using a dechlorinator before using it. Other than that it's fine to use the water for daily top-off. The bacteria is killed as soon as it enters the saltwater environment anyway.
