View Full Version : No green in my rainbow

I bought a rainbow montipora little over a month ago. It had a small amount of green in the middle. Now it is all orange polyps. Does it just need to grow out some ( its about 3/4" in diam.) Any tips on getting the green center back?

Usually in too high of light the rainbows will lose some color. You should move it around to find a good place for it to get growth and still get good color.

just give it some time... depending on tank and parameters it will color up

My rainbow has done the same thing. so i just moved it down. where is everyone's rainbow in their tank? Would 13 '' deep with 250 watt SE Radiums on HQI's (M80) still be to high if the bulb is 8'' off the water

Awesome rainbow.

I just picked up an unknown monti from a friend who runs a SW business. It's browned out. I'm thinkin its either Superman, or rainbow. Can't wait to get it colored back up!

I picked up a browned out sunset monti about 2 weeks ago. Seems to be coloring up nicely, if that helps you with timeframes at all.

My rainbow monti did best under Iwasaki 15K bulbs (175 watt). It had all the colors under that bulb. Under 10K 250 watt Reeflux it went all orange. Now it's under 250 watt 14K Aquaconnect and it is 99% green, with a tiny orange border. :(

old shot...about 10" under the water surface with 400wEVC10kSE on m58 about 10" above the water

mine is a tyree one... i think it was the first rainbow to "come out" ... IMO.. the tyree one is a little more faded purple base than others... i've seen some others that are nicer/richer colored than tyree's
