Dead clown

Well after treating for ich and leaving nothing new (i couldnt' catch a couple fish) in my tank I try a GSM clown. This morning the clown is dead and i am angry. He had devloped some white blotches they were not like the speckling of ich that I had seen before. I read through the brook thread and it did not look like that either. I tryed for 5 mins to get a good pic but i could not get anything to show up. the blotches were white and about the size of the space inside the letter a<---
There were one or two blotches on one side and three or four assorted sized blotches on the other side.

Is it my tank or my fish? yellow watchman 2 engineer gobies 2 firefish are all in the tank and have no spots on them and all eat well. So i guess it is the fish.

I am searching craigslist now for a qt tank but i do not understand what is wrong i am tired of killing fish and wasting $$$$

Please tell me what you think, and what could be happening.
