SO I got my first SPS frags from the LFS and they are on plugs. The plugs are too big to fit anywhere in my rock. I was wondering what the best way is to remove the frags from the plugs.
Thanks

Are they encrusted or just glue on with superglue?

One frag has encrusted a bit on to the plug the other 4 are just glued with super glue.

Pop off the ones that are not encrusted yet and you might have to cut the other off but no biggie.

To pop them off could I just wedge a screwdriver into the glue and crack it to pop them off. Also one of the frags is a monti cap should I worry about cracking it with this method?

sounds like a viable way to break them off the plugs...as for the ones encrusted..if you cant get them pryed off i would just cut it off with side cutters, mount the piece where you want and stick the plug in your sand bed and allow it to grow into a another frag you can sell...
i wouldnt worry too much about breaking the cap they grow so freakin fast anyway...

if you have fragging shears or side cutters, you can cut base off the plug itself and then you have a nice flat surface on the bottom of it for glueing, if you are worried about breaking your frag.

I cut them at the base. Then I just grow the base out for trading :)

Same here, especially with ORA plugs.
