Octopus 3000 "Set Hold Timer"?

In the TIMERS menu on my octopus 3000 there as a "set hold timer" option. What exactly is that for? I didn't mess with it and the operation manual isn't much help (unless I totally missed it)

It will turn off all controlled equipment except the wavemaker and lights for however long you tell it too. It is covered on page 3-16 (step 20) in v.2.2 of the manual. I've used it as a "feed timer" or when I'm doing maintenance.
