I was at Home Depot yesterday looking for PVC pipe. They had cpvc. Is that the same thing? Is it aqaurium safe?

in most cases I believe it's actually more expensive than PVC, Home depot should have regular PVC

Don't carry pvc anymore? That's weird. PVC pipe is generally used in wastewater applications in your home. For water going to the faucet they use copper pipe or cpvc. This is because pvc pipe is know to leak small amounts of some toxin that build up over time in your system. So by code all drinkable water in your home should usually be run through copper or cpvc. I have pvc plumbing in my tank and have not noticed any ill effects, nor have I ever spoken to anyone who has had problems using standard pvc.

The short answer to your question is yes CPVC is perfectly safe for your tank, but fittings for say 1/2" pvc won't work w/ 1/2" cpvc. So whatever you choose pic one or the other. (obviosly never use copper pipe)
