1.) Dosing

Dose in the evening after the lights are out, the photosynthestics of the algae will not work during the night so the algae X will better work

10 ml Algae X of 200L Water every 2 days
DO NOT OVERDOSE AND CALCULATE THE LITRES EXACTLY !!!!
Dose every 2 days until the algae has gone but not more than 21 days at a time

Important !

lighting interval max 6 hours/day
Blue light can be on for 10 hours
Make sure you Heavily skim!!
No water change or Dosing of any Trace Elements during treatment
No Ozone , Carbon , Zeolith or Absorber during Treatment

3.) When to use Algae X

Algae X works against every Algae ( not against bacterias !!! )
o Derbesia, and other feather algae
o Bubble and Goldalgeas, Halimeda calcerous algae's
o Caulerpa
o Bryopsis Algea need longer treatment
Dinoflagellates (brown pest )

If Dinoflegalletes comes back after a few days then dose again for some days until all Dinos have gone

It does not work against Cyanobacteria !

4.) Problems

If you dose correctly the product is harmless against all corals and other invertebrates Algea X has been tested for 10 years without negative effect

Redox potential will fall slightly

Sea Urchin and Clams can be harmed after longer use or overdosing

Caulerpas in Mud Filter or Refugium can be harmed also. Remove it.

To much die back of algae can send back the poison which is in the algae so please remove all algae by hand if its possible

The water can become a little bit cloudy

Tridacna clams can also harmed if you treat against dinoflagellates
Corals Polyps may close for a few days

Is there any clarification to this statement? Why is it only if you are treating against dinoflagellates?

Tridacna clams can also harmed if you treat against dinoflagellates

Thanks

HI

It is alos when you treat longer time as i said at the manual or when you overdose.
The product is so developted that the algeas died slowly and the skimmer can remove them.
Dinoflagellates are toxic and it is possible that clams and urchins also corals react on that poison

Does it affect coralline algae? I saw it does halimedia, which is a calcerous algae as well.

HI

Yes !! it has an effect on every algea

The different is only that Zooxanthelles are protected by the animals and Calerous algeas needs much longer till they be harmed

Claude

Could you please add the proper procedures and practices of maintenance to your aquarium once you have finished treating the aquarium with Algea X. Also if a manual/ guide for AlgaeX be added as a sticky to this forum.

Thanks

Mike

I understand that the treatments should be done when the lights are off. Do I have to limit the hours for my lights. I presently have 4 39 wt T5 lamps and 2 250 HQI on my reef. I have many Stony corals and do not want to loose my colors.

its to do with photosynthesis and the break down of the algae cells

I understand that. But is it Ok that I just do the treatments at night with the lights off?

This might be a dumb question but here goes.
When you say every two days for dosing but no more than 21 days at a time, does that mean that 21 actual doses or 10.5 doses in 21 days

total of 21 days
