I have some kind of snail in my sump. It has a flat, like half shell and I don't know what it is. I don't wanna touch it till I know its safe. I know there as some (potentially) dangerous snails in our reefs. Hopefully he's safe, cause he's cool looking.

If it looks like it has half a flat shell, it's probably a Stomatella species. They are common hitchhikers and good algae eaters, and they aren't dangerous. About the only dangerous snails are the fish-eating cones and a couple of the molluscivorous cones, neither of which you're terribly likely to encounter by accident in your reef tank.

Cheers,

Don
