I had one awhile ago on a 38g tank and it did not spit bubbles at first, but after running for a couple months it started to. Now it's sitting unused in a bucket in my garage. I've always meant to set it up again and try to fix the problem, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
They're garbage.... I have one and to me you might as well save up for a better skimmer..... you'll eventually end up doing it anyway so don't waste time w/ that garbage... the mods available only work so far..... now erryday I'm adjusting the air or something on it to keep it minimally functional..... I'd stay away if I were you....

contrary to what alot of people say, i think its a pretty decent skimmer.
it does spit micro bubbles into the tank but you can simply solve the problem by putting a baby sock over the output.
thats my $0.2 :)
