I haven't posted anything for a while - the tank has cycled completely and little bits of life are sprouting up everywhere. There's not a lot of coralline growth but there are lots of tiny corals popping up here and there. I'm going to take some photos of the little new ones tomorrow but for now, here's a photo of of the new frags I got tonight:

I took this photo about an hour after putting them into the tank.

These little fragments are small, but I got all 3 for cheap... it'll be fun watching them grow...

Just a word of caution - those 2 brownish things on the left of the right-side frag sure look like aiptasia. If it is, you really don't want them in your tank.

Get it out or your tank will get filled with it. Go to your LFS & see what they use. But using Joe's juice will do it.

I believe those are yellow polyp corals... the angle of the photo doesn't show them properly. I'll take some more photos later today............... I do have some other strange looking things in there that I can't identify... i'll let you take a look for your advice. Check back on this thread in about 3-4 hours.

Updated photos of the new fragments I got the other day. The image sizes are large - I hate thumbnail images:

While taking photos of the new fragments I noticed these tiny things on the rock. Not sure what they are...

I'm not sure what these are - they open when the lights are on:

Wider panoramic shot of the fragment. The actinic lighting wipes out the warmer colors - i'll take another shot of it next month...

Photo of a different rock... I haven't entirely determined what this is. It's been on the rock since I got it and hasn't changed much other than it's slightly larger. Other than that, it mostly hangs out day or night. The algae stays away from it. It's the only one like it in the tank. I've been watching very carefully to see if another pops up but none so far. It nearly instantly pops back into the rock if I touch it. I have a peppermint shrimp in the tank but it does not touch it. Hopefully the algae on this rock will be gone in another month. The algae is slowly retreating.

That last one is aiptasia.

Those are yellow polyps in the first pic. The small polyps you discovered in close up photo is snowflake cloves. The last pic is of aiptasia. HTH.

In the last pic, there is also some bubble algae that you want to get rid of before it spreads like summer wild fires.

Am I the only person that thinks this strongly resembles a Majano?

Those frags are cool.........But I don't think that you are paying much attention to the others advice about the Aptasia's. You really need to pay attention to them. Trust all of us that you don't want them all over the place and if you don't control them they will be I can assure you. Just about the only other thing that I know of that can survive a nuclear blast is these things and cockroaches......Get started on them now before it's to late....

Aptasia! Nuke um now or pay the price later. They have stingers that are higher up on the evolutionary scale and will kill their neigbors.

i have a peppermint shrimp in there now - I may get another one. I'm looking for berghia nudibranchs locally but may have to take the risk of buying them and having them shipped during the summer heat.

I've thought about using a razor blade and cutting off the throat portion of the aiptasia but that probably wouldn't help. :-(
