i am setting up a DIY sump and would like to know about other peoples' thoughts concerning PM redline 100 in compareson to the etss red devil deluxe skimmers. i would like to run the skimmer in the sump and would like to hear about peoples experiences with these two skimmers. is their anything else in the 200-300usd$ price range that is worth a look.

not sure how big of a sump you are planning but I just purchased an Octopus nw200 and so far have been pretty happy with it (its still breaking in). Spent 220.00.

Greetings :)
I have been running a Reef Devil Deluxe skimmer (external to the sump) for a little more than a year and I am happy with the results. I had an issue with the collection cup overflowing, but ultimately found that it was my fault - when full, the filter sock was blocking the output of the skimmer forcing more water into the column). I have called ETSS a few times to order additional items (I also use their Reef Devil sump...) and with questions, and their customer service is very good.

I am looking to replace my current skimmer to improve performance due to a tank change (moving towards a heavily-stocked SPS tank), and I am happy enough with ETSS that have their 800 XR skimmer on my short list, along with the ORCA 200.

Hope this helps...

Have heard good things about sump buddy and A E tech says can skim up to 180 without problems
