Hi,

What happens if a channel has more amps than it is designated for? Will it shut down?

The short answer is Yes. IntellaStrip technology will shut down the entire strip if the strip total exceeds the 15A maximum.

That being said the PC4 cannot monitor each channels current separately. For example it will not shut off channel 1 separately if the current on that channel exceeds the 8A max.

It is good practice to never exceed the individual channel maximums as well, which are shown on the PC4 label. On channel 2 and 3 for example the user should not exceed the 6A total between the two. This means that if channel 2 and 3 vary between each other a bit causing one to go slightly over 3A but the total still sits below 6A, the PC4 should be fine.
